I guess I've got a lot of gig experience. In addition to the bands listed above, between 2015-2016 I played 3 nights a week, every week with a band called The Lianne Rivers Band, around various venues in the UK.
I also spent 5 years studying music at Newcastle University, where I got my Bachelor and Masters in composition.
The kind of music I would like to make is pretty theory-based. I'm very interested in unusual scales and chord progressions, and would like to figure out how to write catchy, popular songs with these. You can hear one of my attempts at this with a tune called "Carnivalesque", which you can listen to here. This uses a strange mode (1 b2 b3 #4 5 6 b7).
It would be great to find a singer who ideally knows some music theory, or has studied jazz. I'm aiming to write music that is unique but also conveys some kind of political sentiment...

We are Sebastian (guitar + foot drums) and Michael (lead guitar). Four years ago, our journey began with a simple question: How can we turn your grandma into a metalhead? In other words, how can we make non-metalheads appreciate the melody, groove, and vibe of modern metal music —like Meshuggah and Periphery— without overwhelming them with distorted guitars, grunts and screams? Hey, ich bin Simon (20), spiele seit ungefähr 10 Jahren Schlagezug und auch schon davor/ teilweise während dessen Percussion. Bin ein erfahrener klassischer Gitarrenspieler (ü. 10 Jahre), mit Erfahrung in einigen Bands (südamerikanische Volksmusik, Rock, Jazz/Gypsy). Spiele sehr gerne und viel südamerikanische und spanische Solo-Gitarre, aber habe seit meinem Umzug nach Berlin Lust wieder Leute zu treffen, um gemeinsam Musik zu machen.
Mich interessiert zum Beispiel, Gypsy-Jazz/Swing-Musik, derzeit nehme ich auch Unterricht darin. Hätte aber auch Lust weiter in Richtung spanischer und südamerikanischer Musik zu gehen und was mit anderen gemeinsam einzuüben und vorzuführen, evtl sogar mit einem Gitarristen Stücke a la "Rodrigo y Gabriela":-)
Eine klassische Rock-Band hatte ich auch schon (in dem Fall Covers), und da hatte ich auch immer viel Spaß daran. Also wenn es etwas gibt woran man sich orientieren kann (Tabs, Noten, eigene Kompositionen), dann spiel ich da gerne mit!

Wir sind Groove Approved, eine Funk/Jazz/Rock Band mit einem Proberaum in Berlin Hohenschönhausen. Derzeit sind wir zu dritt mit Gitarre, Schlagzeug und E-Piano/Vocals. Vor Kurzem ist unser Bassist aus persönlichen Gründen aus der Band ausgestiegen und jetzt benötigen wir dafür jemand Neues. Außerdem wollen wir die Band demnächst noch mit verschiedenen Blasinstrumenten und Percussion vergrößern. Wir Jamen viel und schreiben eigene Songs. Mit dem Songwriting sind wir auch schon recht weit, so dass wir eigentlich in diesem Jahr ein Album mit etwa 12 Songs fertigstellen wollen. Die Songs für das Album sind ca. zu 70% fertig. Es ist uns nicht wichtig, dass die bisherigen Basslines 1 zu 1 nachgespielt werden, bis auf ein paar wichtige Melodien. Aber wichtig für uns ist, dass wir uns menschlich gut verstehen und dass die Musik groovt, insbesondere natürlich Bass & Drums. Dein Niveau sollte mindestens im semiprofessionellen Bereich liegen, hör dir dazu am besten mal die Demos an und entscheide selbst, ob unsere Musik dein Interesse weckt.
