Reading sheet music and improvisation skills are highly appreciated, although enthusiasm and a love for Latin music are just as important. Drums Over Knives is looking for new drummers to join the band 🎶🥁 We’re a Berlin-based activist samba/batucada group playing at vegan protests, animal liberation actions, and climate activism events. We rehearse every second week on Wednesdays near Sisyphos. You should already have a little drumming experience and be excited about the political/activist side of the project. We travel together 2–3 times a year to events in other big German cities, plus we play several events around Berlin throughout the year. We currently have around a dozen songs with scores and recordings. There’s definitely a learning curve in the first months, but we also have a setup and support structure that helps new people settle in. Born into a musician family in Camagüey, the young trumpet player stubbornly followed the footsteps of both his father, grandfather and uncle, when insisting on practicing the trumpet, as much as they tried to talk him out of the idea. At the age of ten, he entered one of Cuba ́s finest school, Vocational School of Art "Luis C. Romero". Two years in the row, at the age of both 14 and 15, he was selected best student. His professional experience took off as he simultaneously began his studies at Music Professional School "José White", performing with the Symphonic Orchestra of Camagüey and some of the local bands. Amateur-Bigband in Berlin-Spandau freut sich auf mind. eine zusätzliche Trompete. Wir bestehen seit über 20 Jahren und sind eine altersgemischte Gruppe zwischen 22 und 62+.
